In the framework of activities against NATO leading up to NATO’s summit in Brussels the Portuguese Council for Peace and Cooperation held a public seminar under the banner “Yes to Peace! No to NATO!” on April 1st in Lisbon, when the 68 years of this political-military block were being marked.
The initiative, that denounced NATO’s nature and objectives and stressed the need for NATO’s dissolution, had the participation of several Portuguese and of the Forum against War from Italy and INTAL from Belgium, country where next NATO’s summit will take place.

In an interview to journalist Humberto Alencar, at [the Brazilian news website] Portal Vermelho, this Monday (9/4/2017), the President of the World Peace Council, Socorro Gomes, speaks of the recent US aggression against Syria, on the 7th of April, when the US attacked an air base South-East of Homs, with 59 Tomahawk missiles, under the pretext of “punishing” the Arab country for an alleged use of Sarin gas against civilians on the 4th of April.

The World Peace Council denounces and condemns the recent missile attacks of the USA against Syrian targets on 6th April,as an act of further escalation of the imperialist intervention in Syria and the region, based on the alleged use of chemical weapons in Khan Sheikhoun town near Idleb by the Syrian army, a crime with suspicious motives.

It is with revolt and repudiation that the World Peace Council denounces the persecution suffered by the vice-president of the Women's International Democratic Federation (WIDF) and former Colombian senator Gloria Inés Ramírez and the Argentine sociologist Atílio Borón, a committed critic of US imperialism .

The Presidency of the World Peace Council rejects the irresponsible threats of aggression of the United States against the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) made by its State Secretary Rex Tillerson on Friday (17th of March), speaking from their ally's platform, in South Korea.

The US has for years promoted a policy of interference and destabilization in the Korean Peninsula, investing in the Korean people's division and in reiterated threats against the People's Korea, with repeated military drills, sanctions and arrogant statements.
