Orlando Fundora

The World Peace Council anounces with grief the demise of our beloved comrade Orlando Fundora Lopez, President of honor of the WPC, at the age of 90.

Orlando Fundora joined the revolutionary movement in Cuba before 1954 as trade unionist in the banking system participating in numerous of struggles and actions for which he was jailed and tortured several times by the Batista regime. From his exile in Venezuela he continued his struggle along with the local revolutionary movement from 1957-1959,again jailed and heavily tortured by the regime.

The Belgrade Forum has accured 16 years of activities invested in promoting the idea of peace and cooperation, equality of individuals, nations and states. Over these years, the Forum has published almost 200 books, organized numerous international and national conferences, participated in various international gatherings, and took part in peace building activities across the world. We maintain contacts and cooperation with a significant number of similarly oriented organizations, in the country and abroad, both bilaterally and within the World Peace Council.

Hacemos éste LLAMAMIENTO en el marco de las Elecciones Parlamentarias de Venezuela del 6 de diciembre de 2015 y de la clara evidencia de que ha surgido un ataque orquestado y coordinado de las fuerzas reaccionarias externas y domésticas y de élite para diluir la voluntad y la determinación del pueblo.

The WPC denounces and repudiates all attempts at imperialist interference in the internal affairs of Venezuela, including attempts to attack, subvert and remove the democratically elected Government.

We make this CALL against the background of the impending 6th of December 2015 Parliamentary Elections of Venezuela and the clear evidence that has emerged of an orchestrated and coordinated attack of reactionary external and domestic forces and elite to dilute the people’s will and determination.

The 24 of October is when we celebrate the UN Day, which must bring considerations about one of the peoples' most important instruments in their struggle for peace, and about the challenges ahead.

Celebrating the 70th anniversary of the United Nations demands an initial reflection on the peoples' resistance in their confrontation against Nazi-Fascism and the horrifying consequences. Seven decades ago, the planet was celebrating Victory and the end of the World War II, which killed over 3% of the world's population and brought inestimable costs to humanity.

The Brazilian Center for Solidarity with the Peoples and Struggle for Peace (Cebrapaz) again manifests its deepest concerns about the latest developments in occupied Palestine, where the Palestinian people bravely resists against another wave of violence by the Zionist regime and the settlers it protects.
