The WPC European region member organizations held a meeting warmly and affectionately hosted by the German Peace Council that gathered the conditions for the good functioning of the meeting.
The first Regional meeting of the region of Europe will be held in Berlin on 29th and 30th April, hosted by the German Peace Council. The Meeting will be chaired by the Regional Coordinator Ilda Figuereido from Portugal and attended as well by the General Secretary of the WPC, Thanassis Pafilis and the Executive Secretary Iraklis Tsavdaridis.

The "Comitato Contro La Guerra Milano" (Committee Against the War Milan), adhered unreservedly to the World Council of Peace Declaration on the missile attack of the United States to Syria, calling the protest outside the US Consulate in Milan.
The Czech Peace Movement co-organised a public meeting in Prague, Czech Republic on November 17 to commemorate the International Students' Day which was declared after the german nazi-fascist massacre against Czech students movement in 1939. Demonstration was supported by several peace and anti fascist organizations.
Numerous organizations and prominent leaders of the peace movement have signed on the Coalition’s Points of Unity statement and have agreed to cooperate within the framework of an Ad Hoc coalition named Hands Off Syria Coalition.
The World Peace Council has also endorsed this initiative.

An Urgent Message for Peace on the Eve of Wider War
It is with deep sorrow and sadness that the Portuguese Council for Peace and Cooperation (CPPC) announces the death, at the age of 86, of Silas Cerqueira, a historical and relentless fighter of the Portuguese peace movement and leader and CPPC activist since its founding, on August 22.
On this sad occasion and certain that we are expressing the feelings of the activists of the peace movement in Portugal, the CPPC conveys to the family of Silas Cerqueira our heartfelt condolences and sympathies.
Recently the US Peace Council delegation visited Syria. They spent six intense days in Syria at the end of July 2016. During this time they met with President Bashar Al Assad, the Grand Mufti Hassoun, many opposition leaders and dissidents, parliamentary speakers and members, Syrian NGOs, education ministers, university directors, health sector officials, lawyers, Chamber of Commerce and many more.

The Greek Committtee for International Detente and Peace (EEDYE) organized massive commemorative event on 9th August on the Athens “Acropolis” where the crimes of imperialism were denounced and the need for the struggle today against imperialist wars and aggressions was underlined.
Hundreds of peace loving people gathered and commemorated the US bombing of the martyr cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki 71 years ago.
The Portuguese Council for Peace and Cooperation promoted in Portugal the “Yes to Peace! No to NATO!” that was co-signed by 25 other Portuguese organizations.
