The Portuguese Council for Peace and Cooperation (CPPC) supports the appeal given the Portuguese Embassy in Venezuela, on May 2nd, and subscribed by several Venezuelan non-governmental organizations, asking the Portuguese State to fulfill its obligation and intervene with the Novo Banco ('New Bank') so the bank will release the more than 1.5 billion euros of the Venezuela State illegally retained by this bank and complete the payment orders that, in general, are aimed at paying medication, health services, food and other essential goods the Venezuelan people so needs.

The World Peace Council is extremely concerned about the heightening of tensions in the Persian Gulf. In recent months, the United States has steadily increased its threats against Iran and now the situation in the region has become critical with war by the US - and its allies in Saudi Arabia and Israel - on Iran a very real possibility.

The World Peace Council (WPC) denounces to the peace loving people in the world the new attempt for a Coup d'Etat in Venezuela,organized by the representatives of the reactionary oligarchy of the country hand in hand with their masters in the USA and the European Union.
Committee against war Milan (CCLGM, Comitato Contro la Guerra Milano), celebrated 74th anniversary of The Liberation of Italy from Nazi-fascism by participating in the official national parade in Milan on 25 of April 2019, by carryng four large banners and two smaller ones, the first big banner "La brigata Garibaldi Immortale " (Immortal Brigade Garibaldi) in wich the CCLGM remembers both the fallen partisans and communist fighters of the Garibaldi Partisan Brigades during the WWII.
On March 16 the Portuguese Council for Peace and Cooperation held, in Lisbon, the initiative "70 years of struggle for Peace" in commemoration of the 70th Anniversary of the World Peace Council, where the following text, on the decision by the US to withdraw from the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty (INF), was made public.
On the 21 April, the World Peace Council celebrates its 70th anniversary. It has always struggled against wars, denounced the imperialist system, cultivated solidarity among peoples and united with democratic and peace-loving forces. The WPC, its member organizations and friendly entities prioritize the strengthening of unity and the breadth of its action to face the growing threats in our struggle for peace.
