AGAINST THE CRIMINAL ACTIONS OF THE UNITED STATES AND EL SALVADOR

The Caribbean Movement for Peace and Integration (Barbados) strongly condemns the inhumane and criminal actions of the government of the United States and its accomplice, the government of El Salvador, against the Venezuelan migrant community.

We denounce the use of war tactics against men, women, and children who have been forced to leave their country due to the economic blockade and financial strangulation imposed by Washington. This systematic aggression has reached a new level of brutality with the illegal detention of 238 Venezuelans, who have been kidnapped and confined in detention centers in El Salvador, under a scheme that violates international law and attacks human dignity; an unacceptable act of modern-day slavery in the 21st century.

The Caribbean Movement for Peace and Integration (Barbados) repudiates the use of the infamous 1798 Alien Enemies Act, employed by the United States to criminalize Venezuelan migrants, accusing them without evidence and condemning them without trial.

In response to this attack, we demand:

The immediate release of all Venezuelan migrants detained in El Salvador or any other centers under U.S. orders.

An end to the persecution and criminalization of Venezuelan migration.

The lifting of economic sanctions imposed by the U.S. that have forced thousands of Venezuelans to leave.

International condemnation of President Nayib Bukele's actions, which resemble modern-day slavery.

We call on the peoples of the Caribbean and the world to not remain silent in the face of this barbarity. Defending Venezuelan migrants is defending the right of all nations to sovereignty, justice, and peace.

Migration is not a crime!
