"United States, pay attention, Cuba resists your aggression." This was the slogan repeated at the top of their lungs in front of the US Embassy in Lisbon during the protest action "Solidarity with Cuba! For an end to the blockade and US aggression!", convened by the CPPC and the Portugal-Cuba Friendship Association.

Along the route that connected the University City to Sete Rios, participants carried flags, posters, and banners alluding to what was being discussed: the demand for an end to the US blockade and threats against Cuba, which harm the Cuban people and jeopardize Cuba's legitimate right to sovereignty and development. "Neither blockade nor interference, Cuba with independence!" and "Cuba resists, Cuba will win!" were also heard.

Halfway there, on the Sete Rios viaduct, young people unfurled banners with the colors of the Cuban flag and the inscriptions "Youth is with Cuba" and "Respect for the sovereignty of Cuba! End the blockade!". At the front of the banner, held by representatives of the organizations promoting the action and others that supported it, was Gonçalo Lopes, president of the World Federation of Democratic Youth.

In Sete Rios, Udi Fagundes joined the fight with his music, performing Cuban, Brazilian and Cape Verdean songs – solidarity, like music, unites peoples. João Terreiro, from the Portugal-Cuba Friendship Association, referred to the ongoing solidarity campaign, within which tons of donations have already been sent to Cuba (medicines, medical equipment, school supplies...). Isabel Camarinha, from the CPPC, reaffirmed demands, guaranteed that solidarity will continue, and ended with a message that will surely cross the Atlantic: “To the Cuban people, we say once again that they are not alone and that in Portugal we will continue to demand an end to the blockade, to all coercive measures, threats and aggressions imposed by the USA. We will continue to demand that the right of the Cuban people to sovereignly and freely decide the paths of their development be respected.”

Apesar do bloqueio, das ingerências e das ameaças, “Cuba vencerá!”, afirmou-se em Lisboa

“Estados Unidos, prestem atenção, Cuba resiste à vossa agressão.” Foi esta a palavra de ordem repetida a plenos pulmões em frente à Embaixada dos EUA em Lisboa na acção de protesto “Solidariedade com Cuba! Pelo fim ao bloqueio e às agressões dos EUA!”, convocada pelo CPPC e pela Associação de Amizade Portugal-Cuba.

No percurso que uniu a Cidade Universitária a Sete Rios, os participantes empunharam bandeiras, cartazes e faixas alusivos ao que ali se tratava: a exigência do fim do bloqueio e das ameaças dos EUA contra Cuba, que prejudicam o povo cubano e põem em causa o legítimo direito de Cuba à soberania e ao desenvolvimento. “Nem bloqueio nem ingerência, Cuba com independência!” e “Cuba resiste, Cuba vencerá!” também se fizeram ouvir.

A meio do percurso, no viaduto de Sete Rios, jovens desfraldaram estandartes com as cores da bandeira cubana e as inscrições “A juventude está com Cuba” e “Respeito pela soberania de Cuba! Fim ao bloqueio!”. Na faixa da frente, empunhada pelos representantes das organizações promotoras da acção e de outras que a apoiaram, seguia Gonçalo Lopes, presidente da Federação Mundial da Juventude Democrática.

Em Sete Rios, Udi Fagundes juntou-se à luta com a sua música, interpretando temas cubanos, brasileiros e cabo-verdianos – a solidariedade, como a música, une os povos. João Terreiro, da Associação de Amizade Portugal-Cuba, referiu-se à campanha de solidariedade que está em curso, e no âmbito da qual já seguiram toneladas de doações para Cuba (de medicamentos, equipamento médico, material escolar…). Isabel Camarinha, do CPPC, reafirmou reivindicações, garantiu que a solidariedade é para continuar e terminou com uma mensagem que certamente atravessará o Atlântico: “Ao povo cubano dizemos mais uma vez que não estão sós e que em Portugal continuaremos a exigir o fim do bloqueio, de todas as medidas coercivas, das ameaças e agressões impostas pelos EUA. Continuaremos a exigir que seja respeitado o direito do povo cubano a decidir soberana e livremente os caminhos do seu desenvolvimento.”
