Recently the US Peace Council delegation visited Syria. They spent six intense days in Syria at the end of July 2016. During this time they met with President Bashar Al Assad, the Grand Mufti Hassoun, many opposition leaders and dissidents, parliamentary speakers and members, Syrian NGOs, education ministers, university directors, health sector officials, lawyers, Chamber of Commerce and many more.

Below you will find two links about the visit of the USPC delegation to Syria

Around 150 people protested outside of an Army recruiting center in Times Square in New York City as NATO met on July 9th in Warsaw, Poland.

Speakers included some of the people on the No to NATO list including Al Marder of the US Peace Council, Bruce Gagnon of the Global Network Against Weapons and Nuclear Power in Space and myself, Joe Lombardo of the United National Antiwar Coalition. Other organizations that supported the action included Code Pink, Veterans for Peace, New Jersey and New York Peace Action, Black Agenda Report, BAYAN and several others.

The drive by a nuclear-armed NATO to the borders of Russia — a nuclear-armed state — poses at the very least the risk of accidental nuclear war, and at worst the possibility of military confrontation between two nuclear powers.

U.S. Peace Council’s Exclusive Interview with Dr. Bashar Ja’afari,
Permanent Representative of the Syrian Arab Republic to the United Nations, and
Head of the Syrian Delegation at the Geneva III Negotiations

Date of Interview: February 19, 2016 — New York

B.A. [USPC]: With sincere thanks for allowing us to have this interview with you despite your extremely busy schedule, please start by giving us an overall view of the state of affairs with regard to the Syrian crisis today.

Dear Friends and Comrades in Peace,
As you are well aware, our world is at a critically dangerous juncture: the possibility of a military, potentially a nuclear, confrontation between NATO, led by the United States, and
Russia. The militaries of the two nuclear superpowers are once again facing each other, this time in Eastern Europe, especially in Ukraine, and in Syria. And tensions are increasing each passing day.

Once again the U.S. peace movement is silent in the face of another coup d’état that is being promoted as a democratic uprising. Troops are moving, war threats are being thrown.

Peace Organizations must urgently act to illuminate the travesty of justice that is taking place. We spoke together for negotiations with Iran. We must raise our voices now.
