The World Peace Council organized on 3rd December in Dhaka an international Seminar on the just struggle of the Palestinian People, few days after the International Day of solidarity with the people of Palestine (29th November). At the seminar which was attended by dozens of participants from Bangladesh along with the WPC guests, many leaders of the BPC spoke and saluted the event which was chaired by the President of BPC Mozzafar Hussein Paltu. On the occasion of the centenary birthday of the father of the Bangladesh Nation Bangabundhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the 50th anniversary of the independence of Bangladesh an international peace conference was organized on 4-5 December by the Foreign Ministry in which dozens of international personalities, scientists and friends of Bangladesh participated. Amongst them a twelve (12) member delegation of the World Peace Council headed by its Executive Secretary Iraklis Tsavdaridis.

On Sunday 19th December the Executive Committee (online) meeting took place with the participation of 29 organisations members of the EC and 58 participants in total. During the EC, the WPC President Socorro Gomes delivered a speech and the General Secretary Thanassis Pafilis the Report to the EC. The Executive Secretary Iraklis Tsavdaridis presented the proposal for the holding of the XXII Assembly which was unanimously endorsed and adopted.

In response to the appeal launched by several organisations, dozens of people gathered in the late afternoon of the 11th November, outside the Novo Banco headquarters to demand the return of the Venezuelan funds retained by this banking institution. In the speeches it was denounced the inhuman and illegal nature of the US blockade against the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and the dramatic consequences for its people, including the large Portuguese community living and working there.

The signs of the new cold war with China are everywhere. The political signal comes from the top. President Biden's Interim National Security Strategic Guidance, tellingly called Renewing America's Advantages, states: "We must also contend with the reality that the distribution of power across the world is changing, creating new threats. China, in particular, has rapidly become more assertive. It is the only competitor potentially capable of combining its economic, diplomatic, military, and technological power to mount a sustained challenge to a stable and open international system."

El planeta Tierra padece aún de manera brutal los efectos de la pandemia causada por el Covid-19 en la que millones de seres humanos han resultado infectados e incluso millones han muerto. A meeting of the World Peace Council (WPC) European member organizations was successfully held on November 12th and 13th, in Vila Nova de Gaia, Portugal, hosted by the Portuguese Council for Peace and Cooperation (CPPC).

The meeting, which took place in a friendly way and in a fraternal atmosphere, debated on the international situation and the measures to be taken to strengthen solidarity with the peoples and the struggle for peace.

A meeting of the World Peace Council (WPC) delegation with the President of the Vietnamese Association of Friendship Organizations (VUFO) Nguyen Phuong Nga took place on 1st November 2021 in a cordial and friendly atmosphere of friendship. The President of VUFO is visiting Greece as part of the Vietnamese delegation headed by the Vice-President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

The past months of August and September signal moments that remind us of the nuclear horror and call on us all for a more determined action in defence of peace and disarmament –on August 6 and 9 we evoke the US nuclear bombings on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, in 1945, and their dramatic consequences, which persist to this day; on August 29 we celebrate the International Day against Nuclear Tests; on 21 September the International Day of Peace; and on 26 September the International Day for the Total Elimination of Nuclear Weapons.
