The statements by US President Donald Trump, who alludes to the possibility of expelling the Palestinian population from the Gaza Strip and of the US itself taking control of that territory, are serious and deserve the clearest and most vehement condemnation of all those who desire peace and defend the rights of the people.

The intention to expel the Palestinian population from the Gaza Strip has been openly declared by the Biden administration, particularly through the voice of Secretary of State Blinken, who has tried to get Egypt and Jordan to open their borders so that Israel can violently expel the Palestinian people from their homes and ancestral lands – something that has long been sought by the Zionists.

Trump not only revives this intent, but also declares that the Gaza Strip will remain under US rule. It should be noted that the United States has been, for decades, an accomplice in Israel's illegal occupation of Palestinian territories and its policy of oppression against the Palestinian people, which it supports with weapons, financing and political and diplomatic cover.

For the past year and a half, they have been behind the ongoing genocide in the Gaza Strip and the worsening situation in the West Bank.
The Portuguese government, so quick to take a position on international issues, cannot continue to pretend that it is unaware of President Trump's unacceptable statements, and must repudiate them and affirm its defense of respect for international law, particularly the national rights of the Palestinian people. The CPPC reaffirms solidarity with the Palestinian people and their heroic struggle for their inalienable national rights, enshrined in numerous UN declarations, which Israel has consistently disregarded with the support and complicity of the United States.

Only the creation of a sovereign, independent and viable Palestinian state – within the pre-June 1967 borders and with its capital in East Jerusalem, in accordance with UN resolutions – can ensure a just and lasting peace in Palestine and the Middle East. The CPPC calls for everyone to participate in the solidarity actions with Palestine that will be held on February 18, at 6 pm, at Largo Camões, in Lisbon, and at Praceta da Palestina, in Porto, where the repudiation of the unacceptable statements of the US President, Donald Trump, will also be expressed.

Sobre as declarações do Presidente Trump sobre a Palestina

As recentes declarações do presidente norte-americano, Donald Trump, que alude à possibilidade de expulsar a população palestiniana da Faixa de Gaza e de serem os próprios EUA a assumirem o controlo desse território, são graves e merecem a mais clara e veemente condenação de todos quantos desejam a paz e defendem os direitos dos povos.

A intenção de expulsar a população palestiniana da Faixa de Gaza foi abertamente declarada pela administração Biden, particularmente pela voz do secretário de Estado, Blinken, que tentou que o Egipto e a Jordânia abrissem as suas fronteiras para que Israel expulsasse pela violência o povo palestiniano das suas casas e terras ancestrais – o que há muito é pretendido pelos sionistas. Trump não só recupera este intento, como declara que a Faixa de Gaza ficará sob o domínio dos EUA.

Saliente-se que os EUA são, desde há décadas, cúmplices da ilegal ocupação de territórios palestinianos por parte de Israel e da sua política de opressão contra o povo palestiniano, que sustentam com armamento, financiamento e cobertura política e diplomática. Desde há ano e meio que estão por detrás do genocídio que está em curso na Faixa de Gaza e do agravamento da situação na Cisjordânia.

O governo português, tão expedito a tomar posição sobre questões internacionais, não pode continuar a fingir que não conhece as inaceitáveis declarações do presidente Trump, devendo repudiá-las e afirmar a defesa do respeito do direito internacional, designadamente dos direitos nacionais do povo palestiniano.

O CPPC reafirma a solidariedade ao povo palestiniano e à sua heróica luta pelos seus inalienáveis direitos nacionais, consagrados em inúmeras declarações da ONU, que Israel sempre desrespeitou com o apoio e cumplicidade dos EUA. Só a criação de um Estado palestiniano soberano, independente e viável – nas fronteiras anteriores a junho de 1967 e com capital em Jerusalém Oriental, conforme as resoluções da ONU – pode assegurar uma paz justa e duradoura na Palestina e no Médio Oriente.

O CPPC apela à participação de todos nas ações de solidariedade com a Palestina que se vão realizar no dia 18 de Fevereiro, pelas 18h00, no Largo Camões, em Lisboa, e na Praceta da Palestina, no Porto, onde também se expressará o repúdio pelas inaceitáveis declarações do Presidente dos EUA, Donald Trump.
