The Portuguese Council for Peace and Cooperation (CPPC) salutes the ceasefire agreed between the Palestinian resistance and Israel, which, although limited, represents a relief in the suffering of the Palestinian people caused by the brutal Israeli aggression and for enabling access to urgent humanitarian aid for the Palestinian population of the Gaza Strip, which includes thousands and thousands of children.
However, the agreement does not erase the fact that over the last 15 months, Israel has murdered around 50,000 Palestinians and wounded more than 100,000, with more than 10,000 missing, including thousands of children; it has destroyed the Gaza Strip's healthcare system and most of its infrastructure, razed neighbourhoods, shelters and other United Nations facilities, schools, religious buildings, and prevented the entry of humanitarian aid (medicines, medical equipment, food, fuel).
This agreement, although limited, is the result of the heroic resistance of the Palestinian people and the widespread solidarity that has multiplied around the world, including in Portugal, against Israel's crimes, committed with the complicit support of the US, the UK, the European Union and NATO.
Many millions are demanding an end to the genocide, the materialisation of the national rights of the Palestinian people enshrined in multiple United Nations resolutions and consecutively disregarded for decades, and peace in the Middle East.
It is this solidarity that must continue, so that the ceasefire is permanent, so that humanitarian aid does not stop flowing, so that Israel stops attacking the West Bank and East Jerusalem, so that Israeli troops effectively withdraw completely from the Gaza Strip, so that infrastructure is rebuilt in that martyred Palestinian territory, so that Israeli and Palestinian prisoners are released.

As the CPPC has always affirmed, and reaffirms today, a just and lasting peace will only be possible when the State of Palestine is created, in the pre-1967 borders, with its capital in East Jerusalem and respect for the Palestinian refugees' right of return - which entails an end to the occupation and oppression, the arbitrary arrests, the expulsions of Palestinian populations and families from their homes and lands, the settlements, the military checkpoints and the Separation Wall.
Let's continue to stand in solidarity with the Palestinian people and assert the demand:

Solidariedade com o povo palestiniano!

O Conselho Português para a Paz e Cooperação (CPPC) saúda o cessar-fogo acordado entre a resistência palestiniana e Israel que, embora com carácter limitado, representa um alívio no sofrimento do povo palestiniano causado pela brutal agressão israelita e pelo que este possibilita de acesso à urgente ajuda humanitária por parte da população palestiniana da Faixa de Gaza, em que se contam milhares e milhares de crianças.
No entanto, o acordo não apaga que ao longo dos últimos 15 meses, Israel assassinou cerca de 50 mil palestinianos e feriu mais de 100 mil, existindo mais de 10 mil desaparecidos, entre os quais milhares de crianças; destruiu o sistema de saúde da Faixa de Gaza e a generalidade das infraestruturas, arrasou bairros, abrigos e outras instalações das Nações Unidas, escolas, edifícios religiosos, impediu a entrada de ajuda humanitária (medicamentos, equipamento médico, alimentos, combustíveis).

Este acordo, ainda que limitado, é resultado da heroica resistência do povo palestiniano e da ampla solidariedade que se desenvolveu por todo o mundo, incluindo em Portugal, contra os crimes de Israel, cometidos com o apoio cúmplice dos EUA, do Reino Unido, da União Europeia e da NATO.
São muitos milhões os que exigem o fim do genocídio, a concretização dos direitos nacionais do povo palestiniano consagrados em múltiplas resoluções das Nações Unidas e há décadas consecutivamente desrespeitados, a paz no Médio Oriente.
É essa solidariedade que terá de continuar, para que o cessar-fogo seja permanente, para que a ajuda humanitária não cesse de fluir, para que Israel deixe de atacar a Cisjordânia e Jerusalém Leste, para que as tropas israelitas efetivamente retirem totalmente da Faixa de Gaza, para que as infraestruturas sejam reconstruídas naquele martirizado território palestiniano, para que os prisioneiros israelitas e palestinianos sejam libertados.

Como o CPPC sempre afirmou, e hoje reafirma, uma paz justa e duradoura só será possível quando for criado o Estado da Palestina, nas fronteiras anteriores a 1967, com capital em Jerusalém Oriental e o respeito pelo direito de retorno dos refugiados palestinianos – o que passa pelo fim da ocupação e opressão, das prisões arbitrárias, das expulsões das populações e famílias palestinianas das suas casas e terras, dos colonatos, dos postos de controlo militar e do Muro de Separação.

Continuemos a solidariedade com o povo palestiniano e a afirmar a exigência:
