In repudiation of the action of judge Sergio Moro and in solidarity with Lula, for democracy and justice in Brazil!

Saturday, April 7, 2018

The arrest warrant issued on Thursday (5th of April) for President Lula, the greatest popular leader that our country has ever had, is unconstitutional. Lula is the victim of an offensive coordinated between the national reactionary elite and US imperialism to prevent his return to the Presidency of the Republic.

The protagonists of the judicial, parliamentary and media coup, which was materialized in the impeachment of President Dilma Rousseff in 2016, but is still in progress, seek to prevent the resumption of the process of sovereign economic and social development that does not surrender to the imperialist agenda.

Part of the Judiciary and the media family-conglomerates who wish to sell the country are the instruments to carry out the plot, as is evident in each episode of the farce imposed on the Brazilian people. But not without resistance!

The Brazilian Center for Solidarity with Peoples and Struggle for Peace (Cebrapaz), a member of the People’s Brazil Front (FBP), always present in the trenches of the democratic struggle, emphatically condemns the insane and coward act played out by the judge acting as vigilante, Sérgio Moro (who convicted Lula and now issued the warrant).

We express our solidarity with President Lula, his companions and all the democratic, progressive, justice and peace forces that have been the target of the reactionary and increasingly fascist actions in the country! Together, we will continue the fight.

Therefore, we call on the Brazilian people to take to the streets to defend the Constitution, democracy and freedom of President Lula and of all those who, pursued by the coup leaders, must have the right to defend themselves and prove their innocence, free from the political agendas of judges acting as executioners.

Down with the coup d’etat!
For free elections and the democratic rule of law, now!

Antônio Barreto,
President of Cebrapaz
