WPC Message to ICAP
To the Cuban Institute for the Friendship of the Peoples (ICAP)
To the attention of Fernando Gonzalez Llort, President
Dear Comrade Fernando and dear Comrades of the ICAP
The World Peace Council (WPC) is extending its warmest fraternal and
militant greetings to the Cuban Institute for the Friendship of the
Peoples and through you to the brave Cuban people on the occasion of the
67th anniversary of the Cuban Revolution.
This new year 2026, which marks the centenary of the birth of the
Commander in Chief of the Cuban Revolution Fidel Castro, reminds us not
only of the achievements of the Cuban people under the guidance of the
Communist Party of Cuba and the brilliant leadership of Fidel, but also
of the pivotal role of Cuba and its revolution in expressing
internationalist solidarity to the peoples struggling for their just
causes. These historical teachings are relevant and timely these days
when the imperialist maneuvers of the USA and its allies against Cuba
are becoming more aggressive than ever, particularly the US blockade on
Cuba and the hundreds of sanctions and illegal unilateral coercive
measures against the island of the revolution.
The longstanding and principled solidarity of the WPC to the Cuban
people, its revolution and its leadership is well-known. Today we
reaffirm our commitment to the above against the growing
aggressiveness of US imperialism, openly shown against Cuba and the
peoples of the region.
In this context we would like to strongly condemn once more the recent
attack, bombardment and invasion of the US military in Venezuela which
led to the kidnapping of its president Nicolas Maduro and his wife Cilia
Flores under false and cheap pretexts when its is broadly known that the
main objective of this imperialist aggression was and is the control of
the energy resources of Venezuela and the geopolitical hegemony in the
western hemisphere as described in the reactionary Monroe Doctrine.
We share these days the sorrow and mourning of the Cuban people about
the loss of 32 heroic Cubans who lost their lives during the coward and
“rambo-style” attack of the US special forces, while defending the
integrity and dignity of the Venezuelan people.
Honor and Glory to the brave Cuban fighters!
We are sure that the Cuban people and its leadership will convert their
sorrow and anger into determination to defend the noble and inalienable
rights against the imperialist threats as they have done for the last 67
years.
The WPC is and will be on the side of the Cuban Revolution!
The Secretariat of the WPC 15th January 2026
