Saturday, May 15, 2021

It is with deep sorrow and pain to announce the passing away of our beloved comrade Pashupati Chaulagain who lost his life on 11th May 2021 in the age of 61 due to the Covid-19. Our comrade Pashupati was one of the founders of the Nepal Peace and Solidarity Council (NPSC) and had dedicated his entire life to the struggle for a just world, free from imperialist aggressions and exploitation.

From the Youth times as leader of the Democratic National Youth Federation of Nepal, in the political party work as Member of the Political Bureau of the CPN (UML) and as Member of the Nepali Parliament and the Constituent Assembly. Comrade Pashupati was known broadly and loved in the Nepali society, he was respected for his integrity and high sense of feeling with and for the people. Till the end of his life he served as Bagmati Provincial Assembly member from Dolakha.

As genuine internationalist he had attended dozens of international meetings and events of the World Federation of Democratic Youth (WFDY) and of the WPC. He served the people’s movement of Nepal and the Nepal Peace and Solidarity Council. Pashupati Chaulagain had rare qualities as leader although he considered himself always a “soldier”.

For the people in Nepal and worldwide who had the chance to meet and work with him, it is a heartbreaking and very sad moment.

The World Peace Council pays tribute to our late comrade Pashupati, we lost a friend and brother, a true comrade for the unfulfilled tasks and struggles to come.

We convey our deepest condolences to the NPSC, to his party and his bereaved family these moments.

We shall remember him in Nepal and the world and carry on his struggle for the ideals he believed in.

Lal Salam Comrade Pashupati!
