The World Peace Council expresses its vehement condemnation about the actions of the US
administration to send and deploy warships in front of Venezuela threatening the territorial
integrity of the country with a clear aim to interfere and intervene in the country.
This new and serious escalation of the US military is following the years’ long actions of
economic sanctions and strangulations of the USA against the people of Venezuela. The goal was
always and is the control of the rich energy reserves of Venezuela and the destabilization of the
country in total. As WPC we have always stood firmly against these actions.
The USA has rich and long record of foreign interventions and military Coups in Latin
America and the world. Now we witness a new episode of a “Far West” style attitude with the
setup of a reward worth millions USD for the capture of the President of Venezuela which
constitutes an open violation of any sense of international law.
We demand the immediate end of the war threats by the USA against Venezuela and the
withdrawal of its military from the region.
We express our solidarity with the people of Venezuela and support its right to define alone
and freely its leadership and future.
Down with the US imperialist maneuvers against Venezuela!
