The Portuguese Council for Peace and Cooperation (CPPC) strongly condemns Israel's attack on the capital of Qatar, Doha. This is yet another violation of international law committed by the State of Israel, bombing yet another sovereign country—after Lebanon, Syria, Iran, and Yemen—which deserves the deepest condemnation.

The fact that, as announced, a Hamas delegation negotiating the terms of the peace agreement was targeted only shows how Israel has no intention of ending the genocide it is committing in the Gaza Strip against the Palestinian people, and its occupation of Palestine in the West Bank and Jerusalem, but rather of worsening them.

The attacks on ships of the Sumud Global Flotilla in international waters also bear witness to the impunity enjoyed by Israel, protected by the US, NATO, and the major powers of the European Union, regardless of their more or less inflammatory statements, which stem more from popular opposition to the support given to the genocide than from any real opposition to Israel and its criminal policies.

The CPPC demands an end to the genocide and occupation, the withdrawal of Israeli troops from the Gaza Strip, and unrestricted access for humanitarian aid under the coordination of the United Nations to meet the immense needs of that population. It also demands that the Portuguese government immediately recognize the State of Palestine, without conditions, under the terms defined in successive United Nations resolutions.

These and other demands will be reaffirmed on the 16th, in actions to be held in Lisbon (Largo Camões, 6 p.m.) and Porto (Praça da Trindade, 4:30 p.m.), as part of the solidarity campaign "All for Palestine! End the genocide! End the occupation!", which will run until November 29th, when demonstrations will be held in Lisbon and Porto.

O CPPC condena com veemência o ataque de Israel contra a capital do Catar - mais uma violação do direito internacional!

O Conselho Português para a Paz e Cooperação - CPPC - condena com veemência o ataque de Israel contra a capital do Catar, Doha. Esta é mais uma violação do direito internacional cometida pelo Estado de Israel, bombardeando mais um país soberano - depois do Líbano, da Síria, do Irão, do Iémen... -, o que merece o mais profundo repúdio. O facto de, como foi anunciado, ter sido visada uma delegação do Hamas que negoceia os termos do acordo de paz só mostra como Israel não pretende pôr fim ao genocídio que comete na Faixa de Gaza, contra o povo palestiniano, e a ocupação da Palestina também na Cisjordânia e em Jerusalém, antes agravá-los.

Os ataques a navios da Flotilha Global Sumud , em águas internacionais, são também testemunho da impunidade de que Israel goza protegido pelos EUA, a NATO e as principais potências da União Europeia, independentemente de declarações mais ou menos inflamadas, que resultam mais da contestação popular ao apoio concedido ao genocídio do que por qualquer oposição real a Israel e à sua política criminosa.

O CPPC reclama o fim do genocídio e da ocupação, a retirada das tropas de Israel da Faixa de Gaza e o acesso irrestrito da ajuda humanitária sob a coordenação das Nações Unidas, para atender às imensas necessidades daquela população. E reclama do Governo português o reconhecimento imediato do Estado da Palestina, sem condições, nos termos definidos em sucessivas resoluções das Nações Unidas.

Estas e outras exigências serão reafirmadas já no próximo dia 16, nas ações a realizar em Lisboa (Largo Camões, 18h00) e no Porto (Praça da Trindade, 16h30), inseridas na campanha de solidariedade "Todos pela Palestina! Fim ao genocídio! Fim à ocupação!", que se prolongam até 29 de novembro, dia em que se realizarão manifestações em Lisboa e no Porto.
