Statement of the WPC about the growing tensions between Pakistan and India

Thursday, May 8, 2025

The World Peace Council expresses its serious concern about the growing tensions between India and Pakistan which do not serve the interests of the two peoples. The WPC condemns any kind of terrorist acts as observed recently. We consider it important to seek for de-escalation of the situation and not further fueling of the conflict of two countries which are in possession of nuclear weapons. We oppose clearly any instrumentalization of the situation by third countries for their own interests and strongly believe that the two peoples and the peoples of the region can live in peace and friendship together, with respect to International Law and without hatred and war hysteria. The social needs of the peoples deserve maximum spending to combat poverty, for education and development and not for the war mongering elites which benefit from conflicts.
The WPC calls upon all sides to find political solution of the situation through negotiations for the mutual benefit of the peoples. War is not the solution and endangers the regional and global peace.
