Thursday, October 8, 2015

September 24, 2015 Peace Committee of Georgia with the NGO coalition "Eurasian Choice" held a rally in front of the residence of the President of Georgia in Tbilisi.
The main demands of the action were: the termination of cooperation with NATO and the restoration of diplomatic relations with Russia.
The demonstrators denounced the discovery of the so-called "NATO Training Center" in the near of the capital of Georgia. The Center was discovered in the former Russian military base.
Protesters also demanded the withdrawal of Georgian troops from Afghanistan.
The pro-American officials of Georgia are conducting a foreign policy that is not conducive to the restoration of dialogue with Abkhazia and South Ossetia – the separated regions of Georgia. President of Georgia is one of the main instigators of this policy. As president, he finally emerged as an outspoken opponent of Georgia's integration into the economic and other associations together with former soviet countries and Russia.
Participants of the meeting stressed the need to restore the long-term friendly relations with Russia to ensure peace and stability in the volatile South Caucasus region.
