WPC European Regional meeting held in Berlin

The WPC European region member organizations held a meeting warmly and affectionately hosted by the German Peace Council that gathered the conditions for the good functioning of the meeting.

The meeting counted naturally with the presence of the Portuguese Council for Peace and Cooperation as WPC Regional Coordinator, and of the German Peace Council, the British Peace Assembly, the Civic Association Soldiers Against War – Czech Republic, the Cyprus Peace Council, the Czech Peace Movement, the European Peace Forum – Germany, the Forum Against War – Italy, the Greek Committee for International Detente and Peace, the Intal – Belgium, the Peace Committee of Turkey, the Swiss Peace Movement, also the presence of organizations from outside Europe the Syrian National Peace Council, the Palestinian Committee for Peace and Solidarity and the presence of the WPC General Secretary - Pafilis Thanasis, the WPC Executive Secretary - Iraklis Tsavdaridis and WPC Vice-President – Jamshid Ahmadi.

Having debated the present international situation and the tasks ahead for the WPC European member organizations restated their commitment to continue to fight and develop initiatives for peace, namely in the framework of the WPC “Yes to Peace! No to NATO!”campaign and the upcoming NATO’s summit on May 24-25 in Brussels.

The delegates present also had the opportunity to participate in meetings and events organized by the German Peace Council with local organizations and activists including the participation in the May Day celebrations in Berlin.
