WPC Asia &Pacific Regional Meeting took successfully place in Dhaka on 6th December 2021

The WPC held successfully the Regional Meeting of the Asia &Pacific on 6th December 2021 in Dhaka, hosted by the Bangladesh Peace Council (BPC) at the Foreign Service Academy of Bangladesh. The hybrid Meeting with in-person and virtual participation via Zoom, counted with the participation of the members from Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Japan, Sri Lanka, Australia, Philippines, Laos and Vietnam while it received also written messages from DPR Korea and Pakistan. The WPC members from other regions attended the meeting as invited guests and contributed to the discussion. The BPC attended the meeting with its President Mozzafar Hussein Paltu, its General Secretary Shahjahan Khan and the deputy General Secretary Hasan Tarique Chowdhury. The report of the meeting was presented by the regional coordinator Rabindra Adhikari from the Nepal Peace &Solidarity Council and the WPC Executive Secretary Iraklis Tsavdaridis informed about the global developments regarding the threats and dangers for peace and stability in the world. The WPC regional meeting welcomed the visit of the Foreign Minister of Bangladesh A.K. Abdul Momen who addressed the meeting warmly, underlining the historical friendly bonds of Bangladesh with the WPC from the times of the liberation struggle till today. The WPC likewise expressed its appreciation and gratitude for the hospitality and congratulated once more for the centenary of birth of Bangabundhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the golden jubilee of the independence of Bangladesh. The Regional Meeting dealt among other issues also with the proposal to hold the next 22nd Assembly of the WPC in the coming year 2022 in Viet Nam. All participants and guests endorsed this proposal which shall be discussed in the WPC Executive Committee on 19th December.
