We condemn the attacks and attempt of destabilizing Iran

Friday, June 9, 2017

We vehemently condemn the terrorist attacks in Iran, at two of the most symbolic places in the Persian country - the Parliament and the shrine of a leader of the 1979 Revolution, Ayatollah Khomeini, this Wednesday, 7.

The World Peace Council has frequently expressed its condemnation of the terrorist attacks proliferating throughout Africa, the Middle East, Europe and America, in an environment of insecurity and extremism promoted and instrumentalized by imperialist policy of interference, threats and manipulation. The peoples are the greatest victims of these policies, both of the attacks that kill them and shake their countries and of the xenophobic, warmongering and authoritarian measures taken under the pretext of promoting security.

We espress our condolences to the victims of the attacks in Iran and to the whole Iranian people who have been resisting the US imperialist attempts and their allies in the region who seek to destabilize and isolate the country.

We further condemn the involvement of countries of the region in the attacks, we reject and repudiate the US President Donald Trump's reaction, saying that Iran is having what it asked for, when he said "the countries that support terrorism run the risk of falling victims of the evil they create." His hypocrisy is infinitesimal, since it is the imperialist policy the greatest responsible for the peoples suffering.

We express our solidarity with all peoples who resist these policies and who resist the brutality of terrorism. At this moment, we stress our solidarity with the Iranian people, who for three decades are threatened and punished with sanctions and imminent attacks promoted by imperialism and its allies, such as Saudi Arabia and Israel.

For the end of the imperialist intervention and the use of terrorism for the destabilization of nations!

Socorro Gomes,
President of the World Peace Council

Socorro Gomes
