Solidarity between the peoples against imperialism and the setback imposed by Trump!

Monday, January 30, 2017

The World Peace Council joins the people of the United States and around the world to express their deep concern over the plans and first actions of the new President of the world's greatest imperialist power, Donald Trump.

In addition to directly undermining rights achieved or for which the US people still struggle, Trump signed an executive order blocking the entry of refugees from countries devastated by the wars that the United States and its allies themselves promoted and sustained. Contrary to History and human rights, Trump closes the door on immigrants and, through the executive order signed last Friday (27), discriminates against people seeking refuge, trying to escape death and destruction in the Middle East and North Africa.

We welcome the massive popular mobilization of progressive forces in the US and around the world in rejection of Trump's ultra-nationalist and chauvinistic agenda, with attacks on labor rights, civil rights, human rights and other social rights, promoting a retrograde program.

We intensify our mobilization against the conservative and reactionary onslaught, the imperialist advance and the militarization of the planet, struggling for fundamental rights again threatened by the most virulent forces of our era, which promote the resurgence of fascist tendencies and of other persecutory, discriminatory and aggressive expressions.

We reject this environment contrary to the humanistic values of cooperation and friendship among nations, for the strengthening of democracy and for the peoples' emancipation. We reject the walls, oppression and discrimination announced by Trump and other right-wing representatives around the world, including in Europe, where the humanitarian drama of refugees has been unfolding for years, with the return of exclusionary borders and antidemocratic policies.

For a fairer world of cooperation and friendship among nations and an end to the imperialist wars, strengthening the solidarity among the peoples!
