India should withdraw from the ‘quad alliance’ immediately

Friday, April 16, 2021

The All India Peace and Solidarity Organisation (AIPSO) condemns the American Seventh Fleet warship’s blatant intrusion into India’s Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) waters off the coast of Lakshadweep in Indian territorial waters. We urge all the political parties in our country to protest this violation of Indian sovereign rights and the government of India to stand up to the US administration.
For the past many years, the famed independent foreign policy of our country is confined to the back-burner in the name of ‘waking up to the strategic realities of a changed world’. But what it did in fact mean was to make our country a junior partner to the US. Our foreign policy was increasingly dovetailed to suit the interests of the US. In the name of augmenting our defence capacities, India’s interests are compromised by signing various defence deals with the US that are detrimental to our country. India had joined the ‘quad’ an alliance set-up by the US to cater to its interests. The result of all such compromises is, the US attitude taking our country for granted and sending its warships into our waters.
It is not surprising that the present government that talks so much about motherland is only found making weak whispers, instead of protesting against the US loud and clear. This brazen act of the US demands a condemnation from all the patriotic forces in our country. This is needed to protect our independence and sovereignty. We call upon all the people to condemn this act. The central government should ensure that such acts do not take place in the future. As a protest, it should withdraw from the ‘quad alliance’ immediately.
